BUILT IN 1931, REHABILITATED IN 1946.
PROJECT INCLUDES REHAB OF US158 EAST ELIZABETH STREET FROM US17 BUSINESS TO WATER STREET AS WELL AS REPLACEMENT OF THE EASTBOUND BRIDGE OVER THE PASQUOTANK RIVER. THE NEW BRIDGE WILL ALSO INCLUDE A SIDEWALK AND BIKE LANE.
THIS WORK IS NECESSARY TO FIX THE SINKING ROADBED AND REPLACE INADEQUATE AND UNSAFE EASTBOUND BRIDGE.
ALSO INCLUDED – LANDSIDE TRAFFIC SIGNAL UPGRADES AT WATER STREET, POINDEXTER STREET, MARTIN STREET AND ROAD STREET. CONDUIT SYSTEM FOR ROADWAY LIGHTING. ELECTRICAL FOR NEW STORM WATER PUMPS.
WORK ON THE BRIDGE INCLUDES – NEW SERVICE, EMERGENCY BACKUP GENERATOR SERVICE, NAVIGATION LIGHTS, SUBMARINE CABLES, CCTV SYSTEM, FIRE ALARM, NEW BRIDGE CONTROLS, GROUNDING, AND LIGHTNING PROTECTION.
