HAMPTON

The lighting system upgrade in the eastbound tube of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel is complete, on time and within budget, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Dorey Electric Co. completed the work through an $8.3 million contract, which included replacing the conduit and electrical cables on interior tunnel walls and removing and disposing of the existing system.

The job required alternating lane closures in the tube. The project began in August 2009.
